お好み焼き Okonomiyaki

  

Okonomi-yaki is Japanese traditional pizza. Okonomi means “what you like” or “what you want” and yaki means “grill” or “roast”.
Even foods are the subject of customizing for Japanese that loves to do that. You can choose the ingredients as your “Okonomi”. Basically cabbages, and rice cakes or cheese or Mentaiko (the marinated roe of pollock),and to say nothing of meats and seafoods. Because you have the variety of the choices, it is named “Okonomi-yaki”. That’s simple.

The seasoning is strongish worcester sauce, bonito flakes, ayonnaise, and green laver. The savory smell of worcester sauce be burned on hot plate is stimulate our appetite.

Okonomi-yaki is also popular to young things because it is very cheap. This is a staple – enjoying the small party with friends in Okonomi-yaki restaurant on their way home after school. I also used to.

Okonomi-yaki is cooked by an exclusive tool called “Hera”. And the most difficult part through cooking is to flip over it called “Kaeshi” in Japanese. At “Kaeshi” period, you must flip over the grilling Okonomi-yaki by two “hera”. That is miserable scene if you failed to do it. Biginners and people who are not confident should ask for making to clerks. Take it easy.
